A Pleached Paradise

Our clients inherited a blank canvas with their new build home. With a looming wall and a fence above, we were tasked with reducing the impact of that whilst creating a modern garden with space to entertain and relax whilst encouraging wildlife into the garden too. Patios, lawn and a water feature were on the wish list along with something to soften the dominance of the boundaries.

"Michael and Jill designed a completely new back garden and the end result is amazing; a complete transformation into a garden that is an absolute joy to be in and look out on."

After: a pleached paradise

After

The wall and the fence which loomed above the garden were a priority and our clients liked the idea of pleached trees so we designed a row of pleached hornbeams along the rear boundary to give height and allow for planting underneath.

Two patio areas were created at the rear doors to the house to give options of places to sit. The garden was sloping so timber sleeper retention was created to allow for the lawn areas to be made flatter. Two circular lawns are linked with a grass path for ease of mowing the lawns.

A beautiful wooden arbour was added to the sunniest end of the garden and a stunning sandstone water feature was located beside the main patio area.

A dedicated space for the BBQ was created on some gravel and three beautiful pink pots were placed at the back door and planted with some herbs.

A beautiful mix of shrubs for year round interest were added along with a lovely selection of ornamental grasses and perennials ensuring the garden looks great all year round and that wildlife love the garden too. A bird bath and bird table were added to make sure our feathered friends are happy too.
