It may still be short days and bleak weather outside but that doesn’t stop us planning for 2017. But if you want to have your finger on the pulse when it comes to your garden in 2017 you will need our guide to all the latest trends…
This year the colour could not be any more appropriate for gardens: PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery! A refreshing, springy yellow-green shade that evokes feelings of the great outdoors. Not only will there be plenty of lovely products in the shops in this colour so that you can enjoy the outdoors even when you’re indoors, it’s also a beautiful colour to use in your garden. We think it would look beautiful on fences, sheds and stone work. Your local DIY store will be able to mix the paint to this exact pantone so you can impress the neighbours with your bang on trend garden.
There will be a move away from formal outdoor seating in 2017 and more of a move towards relaxed garden seating. We have already seen the advent of outdoor sofas and there will be more of this type of seating along with hammocks, swing seats, outdoor bean bags and a range of comfy seating options, allowing us to relax and enjoy our gardens even more.
We have seen a move towards the use of natural materials and soft, curving lines in the briefs from clients in recent times and this will continue into 2017. We expect to see sandstones in soft, warm colours dominate with curving paths and patios helping soften outdoor spaces. Gemetric design and straight lines may seem to be contemporary but those in the know will be bang on trend if they choose a more naturalistic approach.
There has been a rise in the number of people asking us for bespoke outdoor kitchens, from pizza ovens to built in BBQs. This trend will continue in 2017. Let’s hope we get the good weather to go with it!
This is a trend which isn’t going away. We made our own Mud Kitchen for Junior Vialiis this Christmas and we will be selling these along with a range of other upcycled items as a social enterprise in coming months. Stay tuned to find out more.
More and more of us will be turning to our gardens in 2017 for our health and happiness. The trend in “grow your own” will continue as we look for ways to get local, seasonal and organic fruit and veg in an easy and affordable way. And with some doctor’s even prescribing gardening to treat depression, what better way is there to stay happy in 2017.
Here’s to a happy 2017 for everyone!
