Your Questions Answered

At Vialii Gardens, we understand that you will have lots of questions about having your garden designed. Hopefully you will have found a lot of answers on our website but we have listed below the Top 10 questions we are asked most often. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Q1. What services do you offer?

We cover every aspect of gardening from design, landscaping and planting through to all types of garden maintenance. Maintenance covers grass cutting, lawn treatments, weeding and pruning, regular maintenance, one-off tidy-ups, hedge trimming and much more. If it’s garden related, we do it!

Q2. Why do I need a garden designer?

There are lots of reasons why you may need the help of a professional garden designer. Perhaps you are already a keen gardener but you need a bit of guidance and creative input to turn your nice garden into a stunning outdoor room or simply transform a border you are having problems with. Maybe you don’t have the time to come up with a design and to investigate the sometimes overwhelming amount of options available and come up with a coherent design which fits your needs. Perhaps you don’t have the first idea where to start when it comes to gardens and need someone to make the whole process easy and pain free for you.

You may have purchased a new property and although finished beautifully on the inside, the outside has been left at best uninspiring, or at worst a thinly disguised building site. Commonly we are contacted to deal with sloping gardens where the client doesn’t know how to deal with the level differences.

Whatever your reason for needing some guidance, garden design encompasses a whole host of areas from using the right plants in the right place to providing the right balance of hard landscaping and planting and ensuring year round interest, texture, height and so much more. To make your garden a stunning retreat, a lot of knowledge and experience is required, which is why we recommend you use the services of a professional designer.

Q3. What are the benefits of using a garden designer?

There are many benefits which include:

  • Having a well designed and maintained garden can increase the value of your property.
  • Gardens are becoming more and more important as extra living space and are now used as an additional room.
  • Concepts which you may have not considered before can be discussed whether it be bespoke seating, the latest plants and materials, lighting, sound and much more.
  • You can see how your garden will look before any of the actual work begins so you are not left disappointed on completion.
  • The garden will be designed to your requirements whether it be a haven for wildlife, a place for entertaining or simply a place to relax and escape. Your favourite colours and themes will all be incorporated into your garden design making it unique and perfect for you.
  • The incredibly important infrastructure to the garden will be created for you, looking at all elements and making it easy for you to maintain and enjoy it for many years to come.
  • You can simply brief the designer and then receive your garden design and subsequently the garden of your dreams without any work or worry of your own…
  • …Or you can have as much or as little input into the design as you like.
  • Adding the “Wow” factor!
Q4. Why choose Vialii Gardens?

Vialii Gardens is a young and innovative gardening company with lots of fresh ideas to make your garden look stunning without costing the earth (both literally and figuratively!) We are fully qualified – Jill has a Diploma in Garden Design and is a Friend of the Society of Garden Designers. SGD is the only professional association for garden designers in the UK and is dedicated to supporting, promoting and maintaining the highest quality of standards within garden design. Michael is a qualified structural engineer, a great help in both the design and build of our gardens and has many years experience of building gardens from scratch. Where other designers may charge for initial consultations, we offer this service for FREE. Vialii is different from other garden designers as we can offer a full landscaping service in-house and are not reliant on external contractors. This is a great benefit as clients can be assured the design vision will be realised and not compromised in any way as well as dealing with just us all the way through the project. As a small company, we pride ourselves in excellent customer service and we will endeavour to ensure you are comfortable and happy throughout the whole experience. Our maintenance teams offer a full garden maintenance package should that be required too, ensuring your garden continues to look exactly as it did when it was brand new.

Q5. What do I get if I employ the services of Vialii Gardens
  • An initial FREE, no obligation on-line meeting to discuss your requirements.
  • A site visit to survey the garden
  • A follow up on-line meeting to present our initial concepts and ideas for your comment.
  • Final design drawings showing all the elements of the design including lawns, paths, trees, planting, seating areas, ponds etc.
  • A mood board giving you a feel for the materials and plants used in the design.
  • A cost for the design to be built by Vialii Gardens’ in-house landscaping team
Q6. How much will it cost to design my garden?

As you will appreciate every garden is different so it’s impossible to give a definitive cost for a design without seeing the garden and meeting the client. We offer a FREE, no obligation initial on-line consultation where we discuss your ideas and present our portfolio. Following that meeting we will quickly advise the cost for designing your garden. We can also provide a cost if you simply want a planting plan for a bed or a shrub border.

Q7. What locations do you cover?

We cover all locations across central Scotland.

For maintenance, our gardeners focus on areas closer to the Stirling area including:

Stirlingshire including Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Dunblane, Gargunnock, Kippen and the surrounding areas.

Clackmannanshire including Alloa, Tullibody, Menstrie, Alva, Tillicoultry, Dollar and Clackmannan.

For garden design and landscaping we cover all the above areas and further afield including Larbert, Falkirk, Auchterarder and beyond.

Q8. Can you do landscaping as well as design?

One of the benefits of using Vialii Gardens is that our in-house landscaping team can  undertake the build of your garden design. We ensure the service is seamless so you don’t have the worry of having to work with different contractors and incur delays waiting to see your garden completed. We are competitively priced and as creators of both the vision and the actual garden itself you can rest assured your design will be completed as per the plan. There may be some instances where we will use external specialist contractors but in those instances the details would be discussed fully with yourself. If you know exactly what you want built, we are happy to undertake that too. For more information on our landscaping service, please click here. Looking to the future, our in-house garden maintenance teams can also provide a regular maintenance service for your garden, should that be required.

Q9. Do I have to use Vialii Gardens to build the design?

No, although the vast majority of our clients prefer to use our own in-house landscaping team. We are happy for you to use the designs and build your garden yourself or to give the designs to your own contractor. If you prefer, we can project manage your external contractor to ensure they stay true to the design. Costings for this service are available on request.

Q10. Can I make my garden eco-friendly?

Vialii Gardens always encourage the use of sustainable, local materials and environmentally friendly gardens wherever possible and we are committed to only using peat-free compost in our garden. We are happy to discuss to what extent you want to make your garden eco friendly whether it be an alternative to patio heaters, use of solar panels, re-using existing materials or using local materials or simply encouraging wildlife into your garden.

Q11. How do I start the design process?

Contact us and arrange your FREE initial consultation or to ask us any questions you may still have.

Q12. Can I buy gardening gift vouchers?

Of course. Our gift vouchers are a unique gift for loved ones and can be created to whatever value you wish. They are the perfect gift for any occasion. Contact us and arrange your voucher.

Q13. How much is garden maintenance?

As with design & landscaping, every garden is a different size and each client has different requirements. We can provide you with an hourly rate for our gardeners or a fixed cost for a regular or one-off job, whatever suits you and your garden best. Our rates are competitive and our teams are highly trained, insured and reliable. Our gardeners will all wear company uniform, arrive in liveried vans and will put your mind at rest that your garden will be well cared for.

Q14. Will the maintenance team come the same day & time each week?

Where clients request a particular day & time we try and stick to this as much as possible. However there are often reasons (such as the Scottish weather!) which mean we may need to juggle things around sometimes. If there are times you don’t want our gardeners to come then please just let us know.
