A Family Garden Transformation

Our clients had bought their new-build home and were faced with the common problem of a sloping garden and just some lawn. They wanted a garden for the whole family to enjoy so we set to work to create the garden of their dreams.

To meet the clients’ brief, we carefully designed different patio areas. Outside the French doors is a morning patio with a curving path leading you down the sloping garden to the sunnier areas. A curving timber retaining wall allowed us to create two further patios. A large lounging patio provides ample space for the outdoor sofa set and a bespoke pergola will provide shade as the climbers clamber over the top. A contemporary barbecue and fire pit links to the dining patio allowing the family to eat together al fresco. To the side of this area is the children’s play area complete with den poles. A large lawn is edged with sandstone setts. The fence was stained “Slate Grey” to provide a lovely backdrop to the new planting. Low maintenance planting includes Phyllostachys nigra, Carex testacea, Buddleja ‘Buzz Indigo’, Ceanothus repens, Corylus avellana contorta‘Red Majestic’, Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Caiprinha and Phormium ‘Evening Glow’. Bark to the borders will help suppress weeds.
